Every year on May 4th, the Netherlands commemorates all war victims since World War II. These are soldiers as well as civilians who lost their lives during wars or peace operations. Who are these people, and what is their story? On May 3rd, the External Affairs Committee of SIB-Utrecht takes SIB members and others interested on a route through Utrecht Oost past various places significant in remembering WWII. Those places can be monuments, war graves or other places of memory. During the walk you will hear the stories and history behind these places in Utrecht, and you will be invited to engage in conversation about the future of remembrance in the Netherlands among fellow attendees. You are welcome to lay flowers at one of the monuments in remembrance of victims of war.

On this evening the walk is accommodated by the SIB External Affairs Committee. The route was created by the Utrechts Comité 4 Mei, in cooperation with Utrecht Municipality and is available to all on their website.
