About SIB

Who are we?

SIB-Utrecht is a dynamic student association open to everyone—whether you’re studying at mbo, hbo, or university. We combine social fun with intellectual exploration, creating a welcoming community free from hazing or hierarchy.

Every Tuesday, we gather for drinks and activities. These activities range from engaging lectures, debates, workshops, and creative writing, to fun outings like game nights, bowling, or shared dinners.

Looking for more adventure? We also host unforgettable parties and travel together to incredible destinations. At SIB-Utrecht, there’s always something to discover—join us and make the most of your student life!

Apart from the introduction period, we have no obligations. There is no hazing, and we have no hierarchy. Members can organise activities, or come to the ones we organise. Everyone can choose for themselves how much effort they want to put in and how often they want to join us. Of course, we would love to see you every week!

Explore

Every other Tuesday we organise an intellectual evening programme. This means you can join us for debate nights, philosophical cafés, traditional lectures, visits to museums and guided tours of historic places. The one thing we guarrantee is that you’ll walk away having learned something new!

Experience

With SIB you can travel with fellow students. Together, we experience different countries and cultures, and discover their history. From the churches in Copenhagen to the Ljubljana lifestyle, and from the cathedral in Cologne to the green hills of Georgia: with SIB, you explore beyond your borders. And all that for a good price!

This way, every member gets to choose how much effort they want to put into SIB, and by extension, how much enjoyment they get out of it!

Every Tuesday we organize an intellectual evening programme where prominent and emerging journalists, scientists, politicians and business people come to speak about international and/or socially relevant topics. There is always room for questions and critical discussions at the end. The form of an evening programme varies from lectures to panel discussions, and from debates to film lectures.
