War-torn Syria: A Researcher's Perspective

NOTE: Unfortunately, Uğur Ümit Üngör will not be able to come tonight. His talk will be rescheduled to a date in 2018.

Instead we will screen the documentary The War Show (2016). We will have an aftertalk and Q+A with Ali Aljasem. Please note that documentary is in Arabic with Dutch subtitles, but Ali will speak in English. 

Ali Aljasem works as a Trainee at civil rights organization Kompass. Ali lives in the Netherlands since 2015, and has already finished a master in Conflict Studies and Human Rights at Utrecht University. He wrote his master's thesis about "The Protest Movement at Aleppo University and the Regime's Structure and Reaction". He worked for Doctors without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières, and was nominated for the ECHO award 2017 on diversity and social contribution.
