For decades the developments in climate and climate change have kept, and will keep, scientists very busy. Many of whom are researching global warming and the key sources attributing to this. Ever since Al Gore premiered his movie 'An Inconvenient Truth' in 2006, climate change has also kept ordinary civilians up at night. And far before this environmental and climate organisations were erected to spread climate change knowledge among society. Scientific research and the political influence of these organisations have eventually led to the Climate Change Conference of Paris in 2015. It was here where the famous 2 degree maximum warming has been agreed. However, will the agreements of the Paris accord still hold any value, or is too little too late? And what are the exact causes of global warming? What are possible future climate scenario's, and can we still influence them?

Rob van Dorland is Senior Advisor Climate Change at the KNMI (Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute) and Acting Focal Point at the IPCC Netherlands. He will try to answer all these questions and more
